HOW IS A NECK LIFT PERFORMED?
A neck lift (platysmaplasty) involves only incisions placed behind the ear as well as a small incision under the chin. No scars are placed or are visible in front of the ear. Through these hidden incisions, the aging muscle of the neck is contoured, excess neck fat is removed and the skin of the neck is tightened.
Following this procedure not only is the neck line restored but the jaw line becomes sharpened and delineated. Many patients following a neck lift appear remarkably younger, as this procedure enhances not only the neck but tightens the lower third of the cheek and jowl. All of this is performed without any visible telltale scar.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PROCESS?
Following the neck lift surgery, our patients awaken in our recovery facility and, when awake, are taken by our nursing staff to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Coconut Grove. Most facelift patients stay at the Ritz-Carlton for 24 hours postoperatively.*
Dr. Stuzin advises neck lift patients that most of the bruising and swelling subsides in less than 2 weeks. Patients must wear a compression neckband for several weeks and are told to restrict vigorous physical activities. The healing period can vary from patient to patient. Most patients may return to their exercise routine beginning 2 weeks postoperatively.*
